Start of the base for the hen house to go onto
Top part finished, work starts on the steps
And at the other side of the garden, working on the base for the new shed

| Tell Pat to make it bigger! You never have enough room for more chickens! |

LOL Julia,
How many chickens can you get in a 6' x 4' shed?
Anyway, unknown to him, I have a cunning plan
The rest of the back bed, which is about 4' wide and 20' long might become an extension to the run |

George,
does a base that size cost a lot?
I think I should be able to do it, I need to do this on a budget (non existent) I can get the shed form B&Q and do some hacking about to put the chickens in. |

Joe,
I don't really know, it was the OH who paid for it,
But bags of ballast were £1.19 from Wickes...
so a 3" slab of 6' x 4' would need 5 bags cement (£3.25 each, £16.25)
and 20 bags of Ballast (£23.80)
So about £40, but we had the bricks from when they knocked down the front wall to create a driveway which went underneath,
and I think he's made it 6" deep not 3" which would double the cost, though he says a 3" base should be enough really.
But as we've done 2 bases and steps and a new path I think we are closer to £300
Hope this helps
All the best

Thanks,
That's a lot cheaper than I thought
so the choice for them now is shed base or DVD player
why do some people have to keep up with the Jones' regardless of cost
Me I'm happy wearing Primark clothes and eating Value food
I must stop myself comparing other people, you all seem to have good OHs.
I Can feel my soapbox coming out so going to phone work see if I can get some extra; on top of the 12hr nights I already do. Ta-ra for now and once again thanks George |
