We have some beautiful "plans" and loads of "ideas", spend hours thinking about it, but are quite lacking on the actual man hours committed bit!! hence a "wildflower" "natural" garden, or chicken paradise as we prefer to call it! LOL! Smile Smile Smile

Rolling Eyes Laughing ......................but mine wasnt planned................just trial and error of "theres a space, plonk that plant in there", and rough idea in my minds eye as i was doing things..................made ooddles of cock-ups, and still will no doubt!! What is your secret? I notice there is not so much of a munch in your Hostas so how can that be when mine get decimated within minutes and the same with my Lupins. Do you not get slugs and snails in your garden or are your Hostas plastic Very Happy ?

dont get many snails................mabye due to soil being quite acid, and them needing calcium for shells??........................slugs....well thats a different story!!! Evil or Very Mad ........................some hostas dont seem to get touched.............some seem to get munched, so its been a case of the survivors have survived!!.........................also, ive a very healthy toad, frog and newt population that must help, plus hedgehogs etc.
only plant i have to throw a few pellets at first thing in the year are round leaved ligularias that i find get trashed by them early on.

thanks gilly................can be a real noose at times too though!! Confused ....nigel, have done the yellow book last year as a private opening.................before that i used to keep parrots in aviaries, and was bit paranoid with strangers being round and security for the birds, with parrot theft very common.
now ive only budgies and finches left, so seriously considering the yellow book general.
opened it this year for friends etc for mcmillan cancer relief one sunday in june and made £1800 so well pleased. Very Happy

Don't know how this has escaped me up to now!

What a fantastic garden! It really does look on a parallel with the gardens of stately homes, where they have an army of gardeners looking after the place.

Us mere mortals can only dream ... but what a wonderful inspiration, thank you for sharing it with us.
