Officially all french poultry should be housed in doors or under a bird proof roof ie nets etc.. to limit contact with wild birds especially miratory ones and wildfowl.............well i think thats what it meant but if you know better

fruit protection netting is small mesh and quite reasonable priced as against bird proof netting and does exactly the same job

We went and chatted to our neighbour this afternoon.
He's chariman of the local pigeon assoc and breeds pig's and poultry.
He says we don't need to cover them yet, but need to keep them in an enclosure. Mark was greatly relieved, to have more time to do what needs doing.
He went down and did some measuring, and there is enough old chicken wire and old timber to do most of the work.
We went to Garden Centre?DIY store and bought fruit netting
10m x 60m which is exactly the amount we needed. What was worrying, the first lot we looked at was over £100 Shocked

The lot we bought was under £10 Rolling Eyes

I think for our needs the cheap stuff will suffice.

So, not as bad as it seemed last night.....so far anyway.

every thing is very quiet over here local producers dont seem to worried at all.......but still orange alert i think
