| I have a very handsome scots dumpy cockerel ftgh. He is cuckoo coloured. Can email photo to individual - am a bit flummoxed by how to post to this site though. He hatched in Spring 2005. |

| I've got three black dumpies, two of which are cockerels! I've just gotten some more eggs in the incubator, so I hope I have a better hatch rate this time, but I'm not holding my breath. |

Hi there L S
I really like Scots Dumpies and in other circumstances would go all out to breed a flock of them. However, I don't really have enough room for the poultry I have already. Louis ( the bird I'm trying to rehome) has tremendous character and is an amazing "guard" bird. I shall be very sorry to see him go.
Good luck with your SD's |

Sadly, not a single one of them hatched.
Scots greys are smaller and generally are cuckoo in colour. The dumpies have short legs and have a deep boat shape, come in black, cuckoo or white. They are heavier than the greys. Both are rare breeds.
I'll have to see if I have some photos.... |

LMS we set 20 dumpies & only a single one hatched. They do have a reputation for this, seems only the really strong survive to hatching point.
We'll set another lot before summer is over , would be nice to have at least 4 of these, my father bred these & scots greys when he was alive.

I gave Louie to Paula Seaman who lives in Norfolk and I thought was a Poultry Keeper Forum member but I can't find her. I'd love to know how he is doing and if he is a "dad" now. |
