really interesting thread Smile - love the chair - I guess it would have high back to protect occupier from draughts?

any one grown butternut squash in scotland? mine took ages to germinate then treated them as I did the courgettes, but they have all died within a week of planting out, could it be too cold for them? Confused

I tried butternut squash here in Norfolk and couldn't get them to work either. Little squashes started but dropped off at an inch long. It seems an ideal situation for them here too.

I tried to grow them last year in the polytunnel, but due to lack of doors on them... the chickens ate them, along with the pumpkins and courgettes. Evil or Very Mad

Mine last year were really great, but this year everything is very slow and nothing developing much. I havent done anything differently, so really not sure why sometimes they grow and other times they dont.

mine are flowering now ,the spagetti marrow which is a favorite in my house ,have not germinated this year Confused

am giving up I think Sad peas spinach lettuce doing great, as are tomatoes in friends greenhouse, everyhting else water logged and soggy - including humans Sad
