Does anyone have a recipe for Cherry Chutney? I have one, but it needs Mustard seed and I have tried 2 shops here, but there is none.
I have
Cherries, Sultanas, all other spices, Cider Vinegar, Candied Ginger. Any ideas what I can use instead of mustard seed would also be helpful.

No recipe nanny - but have you tried to buy some wholegrain mustard and put a dollop of that in instead? Failing that forget them, it won't be the end of the world to the recipe and you could always add a bit of extra whatever the other spices were.

Mmmm.... sounds lovely!! I would dollop in some wholegrain mustard too - it'll have the same flavour. One of the nicest chutneys I had was grape chutney but I've never seen a recipe for that either Sad

Thanks everyone....I had bought Dijon with grains yesterday, so will use that. I'll make it over the weekend.
Everything is coming at once, raspberries/loganberries/redcurrants.

Made cherry liquer yesterday......made a mistake and put in double sugar and double acohol....anyone care to let me know what will happen??

You could make paste which is like a sweet or mix all red fruits together in batches and freeze to make summer pudding one of my fave puddings I often buy frozen berries to make it as it is cheaper and the juice is there ready !

I've never done it myself, but it sounds as if Rumtopf would be an excellent answer to your problem Nanny.

freeze all excess fruit and i will collect later.........seriously clean and freeze and you can do lots of things with it when thw weather aint so nice........the problem with rumtopfs is you have to remember to keep looking at them and topping them up..............and this time of the year there is so much to do..............sunbathing/jam making /wine drinking/visitors the list is endless
