We have been saving the fat from our cooked ducks and geese and now have to much for everyday use.
Does anyone know if it can be frozen as we do not want it to go to waste

All thoughts and suggestions welcome

It will keep better just stored in a cool place, there's no need to freeze it. Render it down first - heat it till it's liquid and then remove anything that isn't fat - solids and water, either strain it if it's solids or ladle the fat from the top of any liquid. You could then leave it to solidify in small bowls, then let it set hard in a fridge and then remove it from the bowls, wrap it in greasproof paper and store somewhere cool but not cold. You don't have to do the last bit - it just saves bowls from being occupied.

Do you know any milking goat keepers or someone with a hand-milked house cow? Goosefat is great as milking fat (haven't tried duck fat but I don't see why it should be any different). Perhaps they would swap it for something nice.

I wonder what it would be like in the chip pan. I get a lot as well and hate to chuck it out so think I might give it a try.

strain as itsy says.........but here is the better bit use it for all roasted veg...taters,carrots,parsnip.,swede etc..... for frying chips...watch t the spits super for wattles and combs in frosty weather...waterproofs leather boots etc.....also keep one small jar in the medicine cabinet for sore and chapped skin .a matchhead size rubbed gently in does wonders......has it all been used up or want more ideas??

Thanks for the ideas - no Mojo there is plenty more and will get even more this year as we are having more ducks following last years success so any more ideas will be much appreciated

it makes great scurlie, (not sure how you spell) it a scottish stuffing made with oatmeal, onions and meat fat.

Start your own business and bring it back to UK to sell. I think Goose and Duck fat are this years Olive Oil. Very Happy

softens leather gloves,greases hinges,makes lids for preserves,darkens hair(wash after one hour),attracks wasps(in a jar),a fine film over stainless steel tools keeps them bright ...........and finally and best of all....................spread on hovis toast with a mug of scrumpy to drink
