Which I would guess are still in the majority... In my vast chicken experience (all 6 of 'em ) the pure breeds took longer to start laying (around 22 and 26 weeks) but my new hybrids started laying earlier (at about 19 and 21 weeks). And there were certainly eggs being laid already in the barn where all the hybrids were kept when we went to buy them.
