|
|
My husband has won a salmon in a raffle. We went to pick it up today - it is HUGE. It is currently nicely packed in ice in a polystyrene box, it is touching either end of the box. John said they thought they would give him one approx weight 4-5kg. Anyone got any recipe ideas?
I'm going to the next island (Yell) for a few hours visiting the outlaws, then I'll be back to deal with it! Wish me luck! |

IS THAT THE NAME OF THE ISLAND? OR DO YOU WANT US TO YELL THE RECIPE AT YOU
Sorry, have no recipe for a whole, large Salmon, I would probably cut it into steaks and then use as normal.

| We probably have at home; we've got an excellent Sophie Grigson book called Fish, and the Rick Steins. I'll have a look for inspiration for you... |

Like NannyP says (without the Yelling lol)... or if you have a baking tray big enough, just wrap in tin foil (like a parcel), throw in handfuls of dill and olive oil, salt and pepper, and bake until flakes apart....
Salmon's so rich, not much needs to be done to it, I think. The more simple, the more tasty. |

| I have to say I probably agree - a good salmon doesn't really need much else. If you have some scraps left at the end, that's a different matter. |

| With the size of this thing, don't think I have a baking tray big enough! lol! So scraps may well be a possibility! lol! Freezer looks good, gonna try some gravlax too if I can get some dill. |

| After some 'filleting' by John we had 2 large fillets - each one nearly 3lb. We had baked salmon with ginder and olive oil tonight, salmon for gravlax is inthe fridge, rest is in the freezer! |
