I decided to let miss Welsummer (nutmeg) have a go at being a broody, as all she wanted to do was sit on everyone else's eggs.
I took Mojo's advice and got some cheap eggs from a local farm centre ~ 50p each, just in case she gets off. I got her a small rabbit hutch thing and moved her into her own nest box with her eggs, powdered her, her box and her house and she's stayed there ever since ~ since monday 25.04.
She comes out every morning a couple of hours after the other girls and then runs round the pen like a wild thing, eating, drinking and pooing, has a quick dust bath and then runs back to her nest.
I took the picture off as it was so big, but its in my gallery instead

Sounds like it will be a good go! Now you can start daydreaming about the eggs you really want to set under her for next time! |

| I dreamt about those before I got a broody, Deb, but they were very expensive. I read somewhere that they only go broody once in a season, so I guess I may just have to wait until next year. |

Not necessarily true. I have a barred rock that goes broody every couple months, spring, summer, fall or winter...doesn't matter. Her name is Crabby. |

| I've just taken it off debcat, it was so big, like the side of a bus. If someone can tell me how to link it to my gallery it can go back. I don't like the extra wide pages and it must be maddening for dial up people |

I use photobucket not the gallery.
browse for a pic, download it , shrink it to 50% the put it inbetween the img things |

| now you're getting technical on me debcat. I might have a look around, but I think I may have given up ~ to do what I did was really hard and so frustrating when I kept getting the error messages. Fortunately Stephen kept coming up with things to do otherwise I just would have let it go and no one would have known about my possible chicks to be |
