Lots of people were there today and I spent a very enjoyable day meeting old friends and chatting and generally enjoying myself
I seemed to spend the day surrounded by chaps who bought me cups of coffee and asked for my phone number
anyway. I took 7 birds and here is how I did.
Welsummer bantam hen =1st
Rumpless OEG bantam =1st
Maran bantam hen =1st
Lemon porcelain Dutch bantam cockerel = 1st
Blue partridge Dutch bantam cockerel=2nd
Millefleur Dutch bantam hen =3rd
The above all in one class
The only one not placed was my lovely Welsummer cockerel but I love him anyway and told him he was handsome.
I went to the show not knowing what to expect and not expecting to come away with any prize cards so needless to say I am delighted. I was walking around the show with a huge grin pasted over my face and must have looked a proper narner.
So now I can say "Fenland fowl, prize winning poultry" |

I am well and truly hooked lol. The only sour point was when a chap asked if the winning maran hen was mine. When I said proudly that she was, he started saying, "well that's nit right. MY bird should have one, yours is all wrong etc etc etc". I nearly gave him my first prize card since it meant so much to him.
I didn't though. I told him to take it up with the judge which he said he had already done. Cor, if I ever get to the stage where I start attacking the person who's bird beats mine, and having a go at the judge, I will stop showing completely.
Praps he thought a newbie should not win. What he didn't know was that this newbie has been around birds for a while and the hen which won was bred by one of the top people in the breed
But apart from that, it was agreat day and I have just phoned the club secretary to say thank you and letting them know I enjoyed every minute . |

| I've only just read this. What a fantastic achievement Fenwoman. You have every right to feel very proud. Forget the sour grapes guy, he'll have to get over it. |
