We have a one year old Speckled Hamburg bantam that is weak and showing signs of illness. Her posture is 'hunched' with her tail downwards. Face and crop are pale compared to her sisters and we have noticed bubbles of clear liquid from her nose and eyes although this is infrequent. She has been like this for a couple of days. We have isolated her and she now appears to be eating OK. Any ideas what else e should do?

I lost my Marans bantie a couple of weeks ago and she had similar symptoms. The vet prescribed antibiotics for a respiratory infection but I think she was too far gone and although she was eating and drinking okay at first, she eventually lost interest.

I would get her to a vet asap as the sooner you start her treatment, the better chance she has. Good luck.

In the meantime you could give her acv at 2% in water in a non-galvanised drinker. That might just help to perk her up a bit. There's also poultry spice, you could try. Have you managed to see a vet with her?

Unfortunately we lost her tonight - too late with the antibiotics, seems it was a respiratory problem. Thanks for the advice. Good news is that the rest of her sisters seem OK.
