Hi folks,

I hope one of you more knowledgeable people can help me with my Faverolle Rooster. I have a Faverolle pair for breeding and so far I have collected 8 of their eggs and put them under a broody none of which hatched, a further 6 in the incubator which weren't filled either and another single egg in the next incubator batch which also isn't filled. I did originally see him treading her and seemed to do the job well, taking a longer time than my Leghorn rooster but today I have watched him as much as possible and every time he tries to tread her he seems to fall off before the job is done. Could he be too heavy dontknow He is a big Rooster, would this make a difference. This is the breed I want to have the most and would like to resolve this situation asap. I have also put a Light Sussex with him but he doesn't seem interested is treading her although he herds her around the garden and away from the Dutch Bantam Rooster.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Question

Regards Mandy

Shall I move this to the sewer so you two can carry on? Wink Embarassed Shocked

Back to the original question....Mandy, have you tried breeder's pellets? I guess you have them over there, I do not have them here. Maybe put your boy on a diet and feed them this for a while and see what happens.

Yes Deb he has been on Breeders since I got him two months ago, in anticipation of breeding from him and her. Its not that he doesn't want to cover the faverolle hen, he just doesn't seem to be able to do the job. I have e-mailed the British Faverolle Society but so far they haven't replied. Today I took him away from his two girls. He is on the other side of the wire from them so they can see each other. I'm hoping that when I put them back together he will be even more eger and not give up on first time of falling off. Exclamation
