to keep the redmite at bay.

Due to the amount of redmite this year I replaced the coop and dusted chooks and have maintained this for a week and b****r me the blasted things are back. Luckily I can dismantle this new coop as it bolts together so yesterday I used all sorts, and scrubbed and powdered and sprayed, dusted and dusted chooks again.

Today I dared one to appear. Nothing so far but I can still feel them on me after two showers, Evil or Very Mad

But with redmite appearing to be doing very well this year, what do you use, or combo, to keep them at bay...

The cheapest crawling insect spray I can find that claims to kill cockroaches (Wilkinson's £1) into every nook and cranny as well as the flat surfaces. Sprinkle ant powder on horizontal surfaces, put in bedding etc and sprinkle on more powder. A week later, spray again, even if you are only adding more bedding rather than mucking out. Creosote at least once a year - more if you can.

I can feel I need a clean up coming soon. 11 week olds have been reluctant to go in, and I have moved them tonight in with the 2 CLB coqs who are being sold tomorrow. Mummy hen and chicks are in the same small coop, so I will move her out tomorrow and have a good clean and spray with diluted Jeyes. Pleased I bought a new bottle when in the UK.

Wush we could get Diatom in France

I went to collect a 5lt tub of poultry shield which I had ordered off ebay. The couriers had damaged it in transit and were a little confused when I said, 'I won't be signing for that!'
So, I've had to email the seller to ask them to replace it 'Gratis!'
