He came from a farm where there were hens, turkeys ducks, geese etc. and apparantly was used to them being in the field. I know Llamas will attack foxes and dogs, which is good, if they are likely to get among my chickens. But Robbie is chasing my cats, not so much the black or tabby ones, but the black and white ones that he probably can see better in the grass. The cats are used to my ponies and goats sniffing them, so don't see Robbie as a danger. He sniffed at one today, and it let him. Then he jumped up and landed on it with his front legs. Luckily cat was ok. I am not a bit worried about the two light sussex pullets, as they are going to stand out among all the bronw hens. As far as I know, Robbie is fine with the brown hens, although he has had a bit of a do with the cockerel.
As the hens are free range, there is not much I can do to stop them going up into the field where the Llama is. Just have to hope he realises that they are our chickens, and leaves them alone! |

I wouldn't worry too much about the cat from now on, he/she won't get that close again!

Thats a bit worrying, but as E girl says hopefully the cat knows better than to risk being that close in the future.

I have just walked a couple of our dogs up the track by Llamas field. I am pleased to see he is lay down right outside my hen sheds, so if any foxes come sniffing round my hens, hopefully Robbie will give them the shock of their lives when he runs at them with his neck down, and then stamps on them!!!

Let's hope the other cats give Robbie a wide berth in future. Lucky the cat wasn't injured, poor thing must have thought it's time was up.
