I bought a sonic fox repeller last week.
It's supposed to work by emitting a sonic sound that only foxes can hear but to date it has deafened me and hubby (who is usually deaf when I'm talking)frightened the chickens to death and the cats won't come within 100yds of the blessed thing. Its going back for a refund.

Works on the same principle as mole deterrents for lawns, we have tried them and found all so far to be as much use as a chocolate tea pot ! That said, daughter has found one we have not tried to date, on order from Austria, so - with an open mind - I will report back in due course after a trial.......

I brought one of ebay last week, look for "foxwatch"

This is the product description, so far, so good.

Foxwatch helps to protect your home and garden from foxes.
Stopping them from killing pets and wildlife and disturbing your sleep at night.
Foxwatch keeps on working because it activates when a fox is present.
Unlike other deterrents using constant or random signals which foxes become immune to.
Totally safe and silent for humans.
Does not affect other garden wildlife.
Portable, easy to use and works in all weather conditions.
Humane deterrent progressively and permanently reduces fox intrusions.
Foxwatch has a detection range of 40 ft. (12m) and an ultrasonic alarm range of 60 ft. (18m).
Will also deter dogs from the protected area.
2 year warranty.
Mains Adaptor and extension lead also available.

Chickens have not reacted when I've set it off.
