Hello all, my first post here.

Have some chicks coming on great, what age will the cockerals start to crow, im sure its different for different breeds, but is there an average?

Hi Poule, if you look at the post below yours, from Pekinout, he's got some crowing at 5 weeks! I think that's quite early though, I hope so.

It is a bit early but not that unusual. We've had them start at 5 1/2 weeks.
Probably about average would be 8-10 weeks? -ish! Laughing

light sussex are known for being a late developing bird, none of my roosters even attempted a crow and they got up to 12 weeks.

One of my latest boys started yesterday at 4 and a half weeks. It's not really crowing as such, more like a strangled cat noise.

and of course differant breeds make differant noises and volume
