Sorry everyone - searched this forum and links but can't find anyone who gives sizes, always generalisations. Three poultry books we bought don't tell us either.
So: how big should the pop holes be for our home-built housing? This is for ordinary hens, not bantams, just the local brown jobs.

| Theres no exact size. Just make sure they can fit through. id say roughly 10 by 14 inches... mines kinda that size |

I think I've made mine either 12" x 12" or 14" x 14".
You don't want them too tight a squeeze.

| It's been mentioned on here a couple of times (but searching can be tricky) ... a little bit smaller than an A4 sheet of paper is a good size. |

I use a sheet of A4 paper as a guide for bantams but make LF ones bigger, Appenzeller cocks need a taller door or they will scrape their tail on the top all the time, or bump their crest I think I did 10" x 14" for the LF.
