I have an empty incubator. I want to put in 6 LF Welbar eggs, all a good dark brown from the original breeding pair. The incubator will then have three empty rows & I have sufficient TNN bantam eggs to fill them. I have 15 TNN eggs in another incubator and 21 unsexed TNN chicks. Do I fill the incubator with TNNs, run in quarter full, or gather up at least enough cream Legbars eggs to fill one more row?

I've ended up with 7 Welbar and 22 TNNs (+ a china egg as spacer). The logic behind this was that I need more welbars hatched before midsummer's day as brown winter layers & I've already hatched a number of CLs this year so I can do a batch later. The TNNs are pure self indulgence, but the last lot for the year. I shall leave the breeding group together so I still have hatching eggs available. Welsh Duck has the right attitude, and for that reason I ought to keep Light Sussex - I keep being asked if I have any.
