My neighbour has given me some Pink Fir Apple chitted potatoes. Very Happy

Can I grow these in a compost bag? How many do you think I should put in 1 bag? Can I use the multi-purpose compost for them?

Any ideas welcome please. Wink

(edited for spelling - thanks Gilly. Embarassed )

They taste lovely, but the knobles are a pain, no good for chips but with a bit of butter, heaven. Laughing Remember they are lates, dont go and dig them up too early.

CP, if you mix the compost up with chicken muck or manure and split it into empty feed bags it goes alot further Wink

Try cooking them with the skins on a peel them while they are still hot. I haven't done this with Pink Fir Apple but it's how I usually deal with small potatoes; less waste and more flavour too. Wink

Skin on for me too with Pink Firs... and I disagree about them being no good for chips! Okay, they're not the right shape to make chip-shaped chips, but deep fried skin on and unchopped they're gorgeous!

I have them in bags at the moment with multipurpose compost. Grew heritage varieties last year and all went well. You don't get any huge pots. (not that you would from pink fir apples). Its great and the bags don't take up space!!
