Hi all!
I cracked the other week at market and ended up bringing 3 point of lay chickens home with me! They are just ordinary hybrids. One of them seems to be very sleepy; she will often close her eyes, or even fall asleep in one of the kids laps, or next to where ever I happen to be sitting in the garden. The rest of the time she is eating well, busy scratching around the orchard and lays eggs almost daily. She also has her middle claws missing (dont know if that's related). She seems well...any ideas? |

They do have the odd nap during the day & I hope it's just that.
However it wouldn't hurt to do the usual checks for mites & lice & also to worm them unless you know they were done recently.
Garlic & ACV in the water, as a general tonic & poultry spice is also good in times of stress - moving to a new home & a change in feed can stress them. |

| I have dusted them all for lice, but maybe a worming would be in order. I will visit the vets! They do not seem stressed, in fact, they are more friendly than I could have hoped for. I have some acv, how much do I give? |

2% in a non galvanised drinker as it corrodes the metal. |

Thank you. I have just got some worming stuff, but reading the instructions I think it says that it shouldnt be given to pondeuse (egg layers), or does it mean dont eat their eggs for a while?
I will try garlic and acv. |

What's the wormer called?
In the UK we use Flubenvet & there is no egg withdrawal period.
France may be different so you'll need someone 'in the know' to help there. |
