| Hi all, looking for some advice as new to chicken keeping. I have a smallish coop for 4 chickens and was wondering whether shredded paper from my office is suitable to use in the bottom of the coop? Any thoughts ...... |

You can use that but some people find it more annoying than useful. 
It tends to get stuck to eggs, can get wrapped round chickens legs (or so I have heard) & will blow out of the coop in the wind when you open the door.
Apart from that, it's free & easily available so I'd give it a try & see how you get on.  |

Thanks for the speedy advice - We create bags and bags of shredding so I love the idea of putting it to some good use - and free! I will give it a try and see if it drives us mad!  |

| Yeah i used it but it seemed to feel damp and cold and like it has been said i ended up with newsprint stuck all over the eggs .....however i did have some interresting conversations with the girls they did get very well educated for the short time i used it ........(The Times) |
