A lady came to our house to buy a couple of chickens and we got talking about life, the universe....barbeques (?). Turned out we have the same one as her only she has this special attachment that turns her into an awesome smoking oven.

And so we talked some more, about my partner this time, who is a tree surgeon, and how he saves every measly bit of wood because he is sure it can be used for something - like propping up the edges of the chicken houses on uneven ground - and she suggested we use some of the nicer, aromatic woods to produce smoker fuel, as my partner has a massive chipper and likes to get it out a lot.

She also said there is a sad lack of smoker fuel in the UK and lots is imported from the States, which seems a bit ridiculous as to me the whole point of wood fuel is that is local, small carbon footprint etc etc.

So we are giving it a go.

If you would like to know more please check out the Arborworks Ltd website and follow the link from there to the Smoking Wood Supplies, which we have set up in association with a top chap from Vernham Dean. If you are local give us a call and pop over.

We are hoping to get an e-shop up and together shortly - only I haven't covered that bit yet on my web design course!

That's very interesting! My neighbour has a smoker but I don't know where he gets his fuel from. I'll have to ask. Wink
