The vet came and did the second part of our TB test this afternoon and our lovely cow Young Hazel is a reactor. She is the middle animal in my Avatar. We are very upset.
My nan had her egg money stolen from the gate so not a good day. |

Thanks Nonie
I'm cheering up a little bit now.
My nan is hoping we can calve her before she has to go and bucket rear the calf after it's had the colostrum. |

She hasn't calved yet suz. We are allowed to let her calve and then let the calf suckle for 2weeks before she goes. It will be very hard on the calf and us but that it what we have decided to do. It does delay the next test and that brings the following test closer to when the main herd calve. So if we get reactors again we will be in the same situation with the cows close to calving. Nightmare
The place is overrun with badgers at the moment sh****ng everywhere. We are wiring off the cattle yards at night to keep them out. A vet from DEFRA came out to see us last week and I must say he was a very nice chap and very helpful, no kidding, he took OH's ranting and raving very well and calmed down what could have turned into a nasty situation.
I know we only have the one reactor at the moment but we both feel very defeated as nothing is being done to controll the spread of TB other than to cull animals that react so if we loose many I dont think we will restock |
