tried to coax her out today all the others came out as usual tucked into muesli and yogurt like they hadn't seen food all week.My daughter managed to stroke her before being pecked but she definately is dug in and hasn't fed today OH says she can't have eggs to cure problem at moment we can't eat as many as they are laying and we are trying any further tips appreciated as I'm biased and would give in to the broody.

You're so nasty Knobby, maybe Annie needs abit more help than that, specially if the hen is pecking. Annie, no need to worry if she doesn't come off the nest. She will give up eventually, and all you can do is try. Maybe attempt to pick her uip again, with protective gloves on. Mine make a funny noise and fluff up but they threaten more than do anything.
Good Luck.

So thats how you treat the female of the species that you don't understand is it? I DON'T FINK SO............Knobby
I much prefer Debs more tactful approach and shall try again 2morro to talk to her violence never solves anything.

She's wyandotte and I don't sit comfortably with your Tuff Love approach Knobby however I respect the fact that you probably know more than me about this subject and thank you for your comments remember Knobby the female of any species is here to be adored and admired not understood so I forgive you in advance if you think I,m crazy Wink

Errr, have a closer look at nature, it's the males in practically all species that are to be adored and admired, the females are left to do the work.

????? The only one I know is 'I see you are' even the acronym finder doesn't recognise them?? Confused

If you keep taking your hen off the nest she will finally give up but it may take a while. They can be very persistant sometimes.

Another way is to put her in a wire basket/cage so the air gets under her & cools her down. Give food & water & it's supposed to stop them within a few days. I have never tried this myself but it's supposed to work. Sounds a little bit cruel to me, but then I'm probably too soft with my girls anyway! Love 'em to bits!

You could just let her hatch some? Very Happy

I had 3 broodies for a while, I shut them all out of the coop, day and night in the run, and after 3 days they gave up. You need to cool them down Laughing
