I was told the best way to "break" a broody, was to plunge it into a bucket of water.........keep it there till you see the last few bubbles coming to the surface then take her out......it should With immediate effect have broken her desire to sit on eggs !!!

WARNING !!

I havent tried this method ! So dont blame me if you all drown your chooks !!!

Oh well, close at least Annie Wink

knobby,
That's like what my Mother used to say about getting rid of hiccups,
Put your head in a bucket of water 3 times and bring it out twice and you'll never get hiccups again

(it works as well Twisted Evil )

lol annie! I think she's sussed you Knobby!

You don't have to let her sit on a lot of eggs if you decide to let her sit - a couple will do and that won't increase your flock too much - especially of they are boys! and if they are girls then it will halp replace the older layers - I hatch a few every year on that excuse!

Thanx Jaydee still negotiating with OH jus got to figureout what it's gonna cost me... managed to pick her up today the gloves were off and she didn't resist too much so she had the quickest walk up and down and then went back in the nest. While my back was turned collecting the 3 eggs she had been sitting on the cat got out and had its first encounter with chooks it was all very amicable I must say.psWhat's with Knobbyis he really that nasty or is he making an extra effort specially for me?

I think we've misunderstood him this time. he was offering genuine advice and breaking a broody can sometimes seem cruel.
Kobby's a sweety who often says things in a way that get misinterpreted. I don't think he's making a special effort though.
We all get told to SHUT UP and various other things by him. He's all bark though and as soft as s**t really Cool

How can you say that AC, Knobby's my friend
And I meant what I said, he is a noisy little s**t oh here at times, but that's not his true self and I wouldn't want Annie to have the wrong impression about him. I was the one who told him off for being nasty, and I then apologised when I realised he wasn't Confused Oh, and yes I will see him this weekend and he'll probably be as quiet as a mouse
