I went to check on my cherry tree earlier (I got it free earlier this year and it has taken well)

The ends of all the branches are BLACK with aphids!...No honestly there are millions and squillions all over the poor tree Rolling Eyes

I only saw one lady bird on the entire tree, and that was fat and sleepy! (obviously cant cope with the vast banquet in front of it any more). Apart from re-directing all lady birds in the garden to the cherry tree what else can I do to get rid of them? Id rather do it organicaly. Has anybody got any secret recipes that I can rustle up from stuff that I might already have knocking around?

I use ecover detergent in a spray, every 2-3 days at the moment on my two rose bushes that have new buds forming, and they are smothered in them if I leave untreated.

Try here

I have plum and cherry trees that have leaf curl and I was unable to ID the problem until I found this site. The Royal Horticultural Society.

The blackfly does not cause the fruit problems but it causes the leaves to curl. They suggest a winter wash.

Isn't the internet a wonderful thing!!
