Works rather well - we've got 2x85AmpHour being trickle charged by the solar panel up there. It's mainly to power the electric fence, but that leaves plenty of spare juice for the small portable fridge - it's only 45 watts, so that's only 3 hours of daylight needed for every hour of use. It was a godsend today. We got the polytunnel up - started at about 7:30 this morning, and finished covering it about 3:30 this afternoon without a break. We've just had breakfast Wink

Tomatoes - both eating and for making paste - peppers, chillies, salads crops and hopefully lots more! There's 200 sq ft of space in there, so there should be room for lots of nice crops. And it's a good use of a bed that is virtually solid clay and can't be used for anything sensible.

How fantastic Stephen, ( Well done to Nigel too),
Will you put a load of soil on top and dig that in over the years or grow in grow bags. I thought I would take my hens to the Lottie over winter when the beds are bare and have them scratch in it. I also thought they could do a great job in the greenhouse soil! (it pretty heavy clay as well)

It's a bit late this year to do anything to the soil, and it is virtually solid clay so who knows how long it'd take to make it worthwhile, so yes the plan is to build raised beds - next year. This year we've got stuff queued up and waiting to go in the tunnel, so we've got to get it in quickly, so it's off to "somewhere" to buy 24 grow bags...

Wow! Well that would explain your noticable absence here on the forum!

Forgive me for being sort of daft, but what is the green thing hanging in the tree?

(I will NEVER post pics of my garden!...you put me to shame! Shocked )

Finally after about 6 weeks of waiting for warm still weather the polytunnel is constructed.

Stephen has already moved all the tomatoes, peppers and chillies across and started on salads.

There's still plenty to do, the floor needs leveling and some of the plastic trimming, but it's a start.
