Has anyone who makes their own wine tried the Solomon Grundy range?
These are excellent for filling your wine rack up with whilst waiting for the longer stuff to finish.
In theory if kept at the idea temperature, you can start it on the Monday and drink it by the Sunday!
Mine took just over two weeks which is pretty good in my book, also if you use the higher amount of sugar it produces a pretty heady bottle of wine. It says it should produce a 12% wine but mine must of been way over that.
I've tried all of their fruit wines range now, last night have made up another 5 gallons, whilst waiting for all the over 'homemade' wines to finish, so a more than excellent stop gap in the meantime. Especially given the alcohol content! |

Is this readily available? Haven't been to a home brew shop for ages but we have made our own wine & beer in the past.
We made carrot wine a few years ago that was pretty fantastic - homegrown carrots too!
Just don't seem to get the time or the inclination to do any these days.(too much PK! ) |

I got mine from:- www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk, and ordered 10 boxes so I got the free postage.
Once you have sterilized the demi johns it only take 5 minutes to make up then that's it, quick, easy and straight forward.
I love carrot wine, I'm sure its even better with home grown ones, might have to try it if I have a glut of carrots! |
