|
|
| A strange morning... just as I opened the door to say goodbye to my son as he was heading for the bus for school, down runs my neighbour from two doors down, little girl behind saying her dog killed one of our ducks - the mother was screaming at me from our drive! (It would be like me screaming at her because my animals were in her garden.) SHe continued screaming at me that she was going to have to get her dog put down now as she collected him and went away. I was just left dumbfounded on my doorstep... no discussion, no 'sorry about my dog and your duck'... Felt better when I ran into Suz in the co-op (thanks Suz!) saying the woman should have kept her dog under control. I'm more upset about the confrontation than I am about poor Coco as it's awkwardness and ill-will between neighbours. |

Why are some people so unreasonable??
I hope things work out OK LMS. It's horrible when there's ill-feeling between neighbours. |

What a crap start to the day for you, confrontation is always tough. sounds like she was upset though, some people find to hard to say sorry and just shout. We felt terrible when our dog killed a friends chicken. But I agree with suz, I feel its my responsibility to keep my dog under control, and am very careful now. If its still upsetting you could you maybe phone her and clear the air? has the dog killed things before? thinking of you,

| She just knocked on the door and apologised, so that's sorted now. She's promised to keep her dog under control. I think she was afraid my OH would come out and shoot her dog - as happens in crofting communities and just reacted. But I am relieved to say the least. |

Its such a shame that other people see us (poultry keepers) as easy prey, while those with dogs and cats seem to think they have a God given right to allow them to roam freely and to treat our chooks and ducks as fair sport.
I am very pleased that your neighbour came to her senses fairly quickly, but its just another example of small minded uneducated idiots with no care for others or their lifestyles.
Sorry if I sounded as if I was soapboxing, but you know why |
