The way I see it is that gatherings, shows and racing are not permitted until further notice. I see no mention of sales, if that is of any help.

Does this mean that poultry within the danger zone must be culled?

I hope not.

Poultry sales (auctions) unfortunately count as gatherings....the first one of the year would be Hereford on Wednesday.....then there's the Ross sale on March 3rd. (Turns her face to the wall and screams)

Is it just me or are the media taking it calmer on this one than the one dead swan at Cellardyke last time?

Good luck to all down there.

tim they will cull all the poultry at the farm using probably gas
and hope to contain it ,hopefully with testing find it hasn't moved on or off there and that will be the end of it
good luck down there, they seem to be calmer but i wasn't very impressed with a chopper flying over the trucks ,

Yes, they do. We got Sky News and BBC News 24 and both seemed quite calm and determined to say "don't panic, you're not going to die".

Over here in the Netherlands our government panic-ed again.
Starting yesterday 18.00 hours we all have to put our chickens
inside. This is the third time. No other country is doing this.

Best wishes,

Jeroen

mine are now inside although i am a long way away ,they have loads of room ,ducks and geese are the difficult ones to house i tend to treat it as a bit of a dry run to see which hens get on with which ,who like what ,and the best way of coping with my set up ,it does take longer to do than if they are freeranging ,but on a good note i now know which hen is with which cockeral Wink

I've put mine back in the run for now. They were getting used to having the whole garden. Should their food and water be kept in the henhouse or is it ok in a covered run?

Over here a covered run is enough as long a no little birds can
get into it.

Best wishes,

Jeroen

it is the same here ,solid roof so no droppings can get in and small mesh ,feed in the run ,so no wild birds dropping can get to the food ,
