I have an egg!!!!!!
Little blighters wouldn't lay at home but given them 5 days 10 miles down the road on their holidays and hey presto....an EGG!!!!! I was clearing out the travel coop and there it was
With my deer stalker hat on and pipe in mouth I deduce Watston that it was the Orpington in the shavings room..... with a mid brown egg its not the Light Sussex or the Barnevelder so it has to be the Orp!
I bagsied the first egg in this house |

How exciting Is it your very first? I don't think I will ever get over the pleasure of collecting the eggs from the box, especially when they are still warm.
How are you going to cook it???

Yep my very first! Its currently sitting in an egg box to keep it safe. Had just pigged out on THREE crumpets with butter when I found it, so making room now so I can enjoy it to the full.....soft boiled with toasted soldiers.....the only way to eat it |

Well of course, boiled with soldiers - it's really the only way, if I may make a suggestion though - it will be better if it's a day or two old before you boil it, some of the white stays completely runny if they're very fresh, however I do understand your impatience
I also know exactly where you are coming from with the "pigged out on 3 crumpets to celebrate", in fact I'm surprised they only had butter on - couldn't you find any jam? or even better - syrup

Dripping . . . .yumm
Are we a dying breed Henwife? My son won't touch it, but I was brought up on it - dinner at 12 o clock and tea at 4 - toast and dripping in the winter, bread and jam in the summer.

When I was growing up with my sister and 3 brothers we use to have a rota on a Sunday to take it in turn to have bread chunks dipped in the juice and fat of a beef/lamb joint in the roasting tin....we were soooooo disappointed if there was not enough and the spare was for gravy I guess that's where the idea for Marmite came from |

I LOVE dripping I have to spread the dripping on hot buttered toast so it melts, then squish some of the jelly on top, then add a liberal coating of salt
Yum |
