I've never heard of the highlands being used for dairy... they seem to be grown as beef cattle up here. Now Shetlands, that's different...

I think the highlands are great (and more importantly so does Steph) but I wanted a house cow, not beef

I did find some yak as well

I wonder can you milk a yak?

It was interesting doing a search on a Swedish site... cattle only came up with highlands - as for the rest of the words... your guess is as good as mine!

Well, we have milked them when we've had a calf that wont suck but I've never heard of anyone using one as a house cow Laughing I would take the easy road and get something more docile and without horns, but as a beef animal, superb Very Happy

Edited to add, have you thought about all the horrible paper work involved Sad

OH has just come in and said, in the old days Highland cattle were used as a crofters cow and were milked. so there you go Laughing
