Here in Sweden the hay crop failed big time this year, due to the wet August, so everyone is dumping animals for the winter and just trying to get anything they can! Sheep are down from about 900 SEK to about 300 SEK at the moment, and the prices are still falling. |

no silage cut is up ,hay seems to be ok ,although here it's always difficult to over winter animals ,i think that because transport is a problem ,mainly islanders buy them and it's a small place last year's winter was very wet and cattle ended up to their bellies in mud ,lots of the softer sheep died ,a friend told me he gave away 20 suffocks away ,he had to bring them in last year ,and they cost almost 1.500 to feed last winter, but tradditial breeds seem to not be so hard hit ,if they are breed on the isle ,somebody imported suffocks and hebs all the hebs died of tick bites as the people who brought them in wanted to be organic ,they can no longer let out their goats ,and the brought in sheep had no imunity even though they where a isle breed ,there is more highland cattle here than there were though ,the isle breed stock are tough
so the answer is i don't really know stephen |
