Kevin,
Soft, shell-less eggs, has been a topic of many discussions. The results of these have been the realization that sometimes hens just go through flukes. Sometimes you get them at the beginning or end of the laying season. Other times there is no reason for it. It just tends to happen and then straighten itself out again just as fast.
If the soft eggs continue for more than a couple of days, it could indicate that the hen has a calcium deficiency. If the soft eggs come out as a mis-shapen firmer sort of gooey lump, it could indicated that the hen has a tumor or some other problem.
Best thing to do is have the patience to let it run it's course in a day or two. If it continues longer than that, give them extra calcium. If that does not help, then a visit to the vet is in order.
Hope this helps,
