Good luck Jaydee, hope you're as successful as Jan.
The trouble with entering next year Jan, is you have something to live up to and you can't win the prize for the best newcomer. Perhaps you should put your madeira cake in the recipe section. |

Yes, but it was such a lovely day it doesn't really matter, and I dont have the time to do anything special, which in a way makes it more enjoyable. 
I could put the madeira cake recipe in recipe section, but i thought it was really boring.  I like lots of cream and jam and icing  |

| But some people can only have plain cakes and madeira is an ideal cake for that ~ nice without being over the top |

| Now you've admitted they have one in your village cp ~ you'll just have to enter it now, like all these other brave people. We don't have one, thankfully ~ I think it tends to be a village thing. |

Ah, this is such bad news for me! I've been beaten in past years by your family in the livestock and egg classes... and now you're going for photos as well... my photo entries are doomed I tell you, doomed!!
Good luck, and we'll doubtless see you there. Hope this rain clears off though... shall be bringing a 4x4, not the useless rear wheel drive nonsense, if the field's as muddy as I suspect it'll be.

My son tells me your egg entries are impressive - Craig has only entered green eggs, duck eggs and bantams so you have no competition in the other sections!  Until next year when my welsummers are laying of course! lol! |

I'm glad David was impressed! I've got green, white and brown egg entries - am v proud of the brown (obviously!), but the green should be interesting - only managed 3rd last year, but these ones are darker shelled, so we'll see how they do. Have hatched a cross of the mother with a copper/black maran dad this summer, so will be interesting to see if the dark eggshell maran gene can be used to darken the dominant green gene over successive generations.
As for the white eggs - did you see the one and only entry in that class last year - it won (unsurprisingly!), but the eggs weren't even white! More a dark cream. Have got exchequer leghorns that have pulled out all the stops to produce some gleaming white beauties!
My ducks have all stopped laying as usual. Grr...

| W've hatched exchequor leghorns this year, my maran egg supplier was awol so I got the welsummers instead! Our khaki campbells seem to lay all year, although we are only getting 3 eggs from teh 4 of them at the moment. Maybe I will enter eggs next year - Craig can't claim the welsummers and leghorns! |
