One of my ladies disappeared yesterday and re-appeared the wrong side of the fence at roosting time, complete with what appears to be a partial prolapse Shocked

I put her in the little hen house on her own with food & water last night and have separated her today (don't want her pecked to pieces!)

Hubby examined her this morning ( I am too much of a wuss when it comes to gore, etc.) and confirms that her botty is very bloody and runny but not with anything obviously sticking out.

I've got an appointment at the vet for later, but do you think I should expect the worst? Crying or Very sad

Sorry to hear that Nursie - does sound a bit worrying Sad

Just remember you've done the best you can for her now - isolated peace and quiet and TLC. Fingers crossed the vet can do something more for her later.

I hope the vet can sort her out for you ~ but sad to say when one of my girls prolapsed, they fixed it but it had happened again by the next day ~ so I had to have her put to sleep. I hope yours has a better resolution ~ goo luck ~ and let us know how you get on

Good news - I think!

It wasn't a prolapse, he thinks that while she was on her wanderings yesterday, something caught her and had a go at her rear end - it is torn apparantley (I'm so squeamish, I could hardly bear to look!!) However, he is quite positive about her prospects and gave her a long lasting anti-biotic jab and I have to take her back on Monday.

Provided she has improved then, he will give her another jab and she should then recover totally. If not - well Crying or Very sad

However, he was pleased that she was eating and drinking well and is bright in herself. SO glad I took her and resisted the temptation to 'do the deed' there and then!

Latest news from Sicky Chick's bedside!

She is better today and her bottom has dried up well and is no longer bleeding & seeping goo (euw!!)

Shes enjoyed 1/2 a baked potato this morning (much to the chagrin of the other ladies!) and seems generally content.

I'm keeping her separated for the foreseeable future - just to ensure she's totally better and not at risk of being pecked.

So, until she goes back to the vet on Monday - I think that's eveyone up to date!

Thank you all from both Sicky Chick & me for all your thoughts & wishes!!
