8 quails hatched no problem but one of them took so long I ended up totally helping it out of the shell, the others were dry and eating and it hadn't progressed for a day, so...
Its feet are curled up? It's fine, eating and drinking and scooching around on its deformed legs but I'm thinking it can't stay like that forever. I'll keep it as long as it looks happy but is there anything i can do?
i don't want to have to kill soemthing sooo tiny - I'd feel really *mean*, like squishing a bug, that's different to dispatching a cockerel to eat.... |

I've read about people splinting feet on chicks - like this from Feathersite:
but I've no experience of how successful it is. And I guess its gonna be reeeeeeeeeeeallly fiddly on a tiny quail chick
I'd try it if I could, but I've no idea how practical a suggestion it is! |

I agree with Lisa - give splinting a go if you can.
We had 2 chicks last year with a curled toe each but they both managed to straighten out on their own. |

If it is going to be a pet I would give it a go - we kept our crooked leg duckling last year and he manages fine.

Yeh we have a light sussex with one curled foot, that manages fine, but this is both feet - jeez I can have a go at splinting but it will be fiddly!!!
And mostly they're for eating/keeping for breeding more to eat but I can aford to keep a pet quail with them too |
