Well shes home and altho I wouldn't say she looks good I think she looks better than when she went this morning.

I got the feeling talking to the vet that they were not 100% sure of the outcome, but that could be that they dont see many chickens and are not sure how they look when poorly.

When I see her eating and drinking I will feel a lot happier. Shes in a little house and run on her own tonight and has to have the stitches out in 10days.

I'm so pleased she came through the operation ~ hopefully tomorrow she'll feel a bit better and take a drink.
Good luck

Glad she's home Jan. I was advised to restrict the diet to give the crop time to recover from the surgery. Soft food, little and often. Scrambled egg, porridge, bio yoghurt etc etc. Avoid grass for a while though. And have fun syringing antibiotics into her beak won't you Rolling Eyes

We start the antibiotics with the syringe tomorrow. Scrambled egg is a good idea. I offered her some soaked chick crumb but she hasn't had any.

I don't know if I'm seeing improvement where there isn't really any, but shes perching tonight, over sleeping on the floor or in a nest box. I think that must be a good sign.

So sorry to hear about your poorly chicken Jan. I hope the vet will sort her out. It is very worrying when they get sick. Look forward to hearing if she is OK.

Just given her her baytril and locked her up for the night.

I think there has been a definite improvement today. She has eaten a little, had a drink and been out in the run pecking about, making little clucking noises. This afternoon she was pacing the wire wanting to get out with the other.

So tonight I feel a lot happier Very Happy
