has anyone ever encountered this?
recently I have when I have used eggs (same day collection), part - but not all of the white has been watery.
Chooks are happy and healthy, nothing has changed feed wise.
Can anyone explain why this should happen?

Oh this is weird - was convinced I'd replied to this earlier Oh well, I'll have another go...
This link discusses egg quality and reasons for problems
It gives the following possible reasons for "increased thin white":
- Inherited
- Diseases: Newcastle disease, infectious bronchitis, laryngotracheitis or Egg Drop Syndrome 76
- High egg storage temperature
- Age of hens: incidence higher with older hens
- High level of ammonia from droppings
- Loss of CO2 from egg
- High vanadium levels in the feed
Is it just one egg (ie hen) or is it all of them? |

Thanks Lisa.
Its one (maybe two) of my younger girls eggs that it is happening to intermittently, so i cant be sure which/who iykwim.
When the egg is cracked and in a pan, the white itself looks plump and gelatinous, and for the most part as it is cooking, holds together well.
However, sometimes when i go to turn the egg, part of the egg white runs like water ....the rest of the white holds its shape as normal.
Its difficult to explain really, but I hope my ramblings give some insight.
