it's difficult for small hobbyists to vaccinate as although vaccines are available from companies like Interhatch in Chesterfield they come in batches of 1,000 which makes it impractical. Some vetinary practices will vaccinate, but in my experience they are the exception.
I think that providing hygiene and cleanliness is kept in order most hobbyists are OK. Vaccines are really for the commercial big boys who can't manage the level of care that we can. |

If I were you I would.
I worm my lot March and October. I used Flubenvet which is the only licensed wormer for poultry in the UK. You can get other wormers with veterinary advice. Flubenvet is available in most feed merchants without prescription. Calculating the dosage requires a little mental agility as the ones stated are for huge amounts but if that's a problem just shout, most of us here have calculated it down to more normal amounts. |

| Let them stand for 24 hours pointy end down, then put them under her at night she's likely to be calmer in the dark. Or if she does leave the nest for a drink etc. pop them in the nest then |

Best of luck, buffcochin!
Cochins make excellent broodies (I think it's the big hen-skirts they have!) and mothers. I have two I swear by.

| my girls are much fatter, i will try to get some pics and post. Question, as you know cochins can be a bit clumsy, my broody has had eggs under her for 1 day now and when i went to check on her i noticed a few of the eggs weren't under her fully and were a bit cold, would this affect fertility at this early stage? thanks x |
