My hubby is currently under threat of redundancy, so we're trying to think up alternative income sources, especially ones that could be run alongside something like a B&B.
We're currently investigating the possibility of making soups, dips, bread, etc. to sell at farmers markets.
Has anyone had experience of doing this? What legislation is there governing it? Did you manage to make a profit? Do you have any suggestions of things to make (I'm adding lemon curd to the list, having seen the recipe on here, if that's okay).
Thanks

I've no experience whatsoever, but good luck with your venture. I think there are quite strict hygiene rules but other than that I don't know, perhaps try googling various word links

Thanks Summayah,
We've had a chat with some "foodie" friends, and have come up with a plan of action, several recipes, and dates and costs of markets...
If anyone does have any more info though, I'd be soooo grateful to hear it!

Do they not have code of practice that you can have a copy of at the individual markets? They may have their own local regulations that you need to adhere to. Just thoughts, as I say I have no experience at this at all.

you need to contact the environmental heath dept. at your local council about the hygene stuff as they will want to inspect your kitchen if you are preparing foodstuffs.also contact your local trading standards about packaging, labels etc.
it is all very bound up in red tape but if i can do it anyone can
