| We have a hosepipe ban here, but you can use a pressure washer to clean your car or your drive!! Maybe you could do that, surrey bird |

| I've just spent the past two days creating a new coop & run for the ducks, having sorted out the other coops recently, so now all our birds are 'inside'. The garden is somewhat 'empty' and quiet now that they aren't free-ranging any longer. I'm only just outside the surveillance zone by 1km. |

| Poor you Wingy to be so close. Don't forget the discinfectant baths for you to walk through to get in and out of your chicken area. Another one where outsiders gain access could be another idea to try, just to keep your girls (and boys) safe. Good luck |

| Wingy, how did you floor your ducks enclosure and what water system do you have, I'm leaving ours out a bit longer but i want to be prepared if it happens in a rush, good holiday time accommodation for them too if someone else is looking after them and i cant be too sure they will let them out on time. |

Update from the BBC website:
| Quote: | A dead swan found in Fife which tested positive for the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu has been identified by scientists as a whooper swan.
The breed originates from outside the UK but it was unclear whether the bird - subjected to DNA testing - picked up the disease abroad.
No other birds have tested positive for H5N1 since the discovery on 29 March, Scotland's chief vet has said.
Whitehall sources have told the BBC the swan may not have died in the UK.
The "working hypothesis" is the bird could have died in another country and been washed up on the Scottish coast. |

Heard on Farming Today Radio 4 on Tuesday morning - reports of some people in Scotland slaughtering their birds & burning the coops to prevent their children getting AI.
Also the RSPB reports birds being abandoned in woodland & in cages by the roadside!
Madness! |

I believe chickens have also been put into bags and dumped by the side of roads. These people are inhuman ~ you can't treat another leaving creature like that.
It makes me so sad to hear of this kind of thing. We are supposed to be the highest form of creation ~ those actions actually put us somewhere at the bottom of the heap I think |
