Trumpet won't eat and lethargic. No more bad smells after feeding her olive oil and massaging crop. Crop has shrunken down to almost nothing, but she will still not eat. Does anyone have any ideas? I am a total amateur. |

Hello ml, welcome to the forum. Sorry it had to be under these circusmtances. The first thing you should do is isolate her from any other chickens you have. Keep her in the warm so that you can monitor her.
Can you give any more detail, does she have any breathing difficulty? Is she moving at all?
I'm sorry I can't help you any more than this, but I'm sure someone will be along soon with some good information.
In the meantime you must get her to drink ~ that is more important than food. If you could give her apple cider vinegar in her water, that might help to perk her up. Give 20mls in 1 litre of water in a non galvanised container. |

| She doesn't drink on her own. I gave her h2o yesterday with an eye dropper. Stool still seems quite wet and includes some undigested grain that she probably got from horse manure. The birds have not been free ranging recently because of the extreme wx. They were out the day before this situation began. I don't know if a crop loses grit when they are inside for a period of time. I probably should make sure they get grit when they are in. |
