Oh no thats so sad, I hope you can get another girl fairly quickly, but as George said you must get your other hen treated before you get anymore, as its most probable she too will have parasites.
Sorry it wasn't a better outcome

One of the things you can do is report every single vet who refuses to treat her, to the RCVS and RSPCA because it is actually illegal for a vet to refuse to treat a sick animal
If she is still drinking tell any vet that you want a course of baytril for her.
Have you bought in any chickens lately? What is she being fed? Where does she live? No rats about contaminating her food? |

Hi Dandelion!
Sorry to hear of your loss - it is even more upsetting when the pet belongs to the kids, it is heart breaking to see them so upset.
One of my daughters chickens, her favorite - a lavender Barbu D'anver recently died with the same symptoms as yours. She had been recently wormed, was given a course of Baytril, and coxoid, we tried everything. We syringed fluid and food into her, and the two days before she died had started to regain her appetite and attitude. We still lost her. But the worst thing was breaking the news to my daughter - she cried for the whole day. We dug a grave under the hazelnut tree, gave 'Jellybean' a last cuddle goodbye, and planted snowdrops as an annual reminder .Some one should have warned us that even chickens should come with an 'emotional health warning'

This may help, i had the same prob and i knew what was wrong with my chicken and what meds she needed but only a vet could give them and again no one would help. It is because of this bird flu. I contacted DEFRA and they where very helpful and can sometimes contact a local vet for you. it is worth a try anyway
good luck and let us know how you get on
