Started this yesterday - recipe from Nigella

600g of Rhubarb 300g of sugar 1 litre of vodka shake it all together in a jar and leave in a cool dark place for 6 weeks or up to 6 months , shake the jar every day or so for the first month (if you remember!)

Ooooo - not heard of that one before. Worth a go, me thinks, when the rhubarb has grown big enough.

Do let us know what it tastes like (presumably of rhubarb Embarassed Rolling Eyes Laughing )

Hmmm...... looks good - I like the colour!!

And I love the bottles - did you buy them, or re-use them?

Don't know about re-using the rhubarb if it went in raw.... boozy rhubarb crumble maybe??

I don't know if you can eat rhubarb raw? Confused I've only seen it used cooked in recipes (but I'm happy to be proved wrong!) I wonder if you could roast the rhubarb first, and then use it to flavour the vodka.... and then eat it Razz

I'd done a rumtopf once before - the fruit was very nice after that Wink But it only used fruit that you would have eaten raw anyway...

bottles I bought from Oil and vinegar - I think they have closed down now though

the rhubarb was raw - so I could maybe cook it and make a crumble you think ?

I vaguely remember biting raw rhubarb when My dad used to grow it was very sharp !! but I lived to tell the tale Wink

We used to do that when we were kids - make a paper cup to hold the sugar and off we'd go dipping!
