How sad., but very brave of you to do what you had to do.
I had a thought, in my inexperience, but I didn't think they were supposed to moult in their first year? |

sorry to hear about your girl, but well done in doing what was right for her.
Jooles,. I think it depends when they were hatched ~ I got some of mine in January last year, so they were from the previous year ~ maybe August time, and yet most of mine moulted this year ~ August onwards |

Occasionally my hens get pooey bums. They get white on their feathers (being black rocks it stands out).
Is it something serious, ive always put it down to they've slept on a poo (they huddle on shavings, rather than roost on bars yet.
What do you think? |

Hi Chrislee
When was the last time they were wormed - I had a similar problem a fair while ago and thought the same. Someone suggested worming with Flubenvet - so I did and it is no where near as often as it once was, also first thing in the morning their poos are a little bit wetter it seems and often have a pooey bit on their underskirts !!
Do you pick them up regularly and Gage their well being by weight ( I had failed to do this for a while with the poorly one). If their weight is fairly stable then my first thought would definitely be worming.
My poorly girl as well as having very bad diarrhea also had a huge blood clot sticking to her feathers - the smell was indescribable !!!!!!
