When my vet first prescribed me some, we talked about withdrawl periods. She told me Baytril belongs to the same family of antibiotics that can be used to treat MRSA in people. So for our own health it is important not to overuse it or have residues in the food chain incase at some point in the future we might need to be treated for MRSA |

| That goes without saying, any medications used has a withdraw time, usually 2 weeks to a month depending on what you use.there are some meds that don`t have a slaughter withdrawl time so eggs can still be eaten.Just check out the withdrawl time before using any meds |

I don't think its clear in the UK - I've been told different withdrawl times by different vets... |

| Thank you for your kind offer, but, I would have to consider the possibility of being a criminal, (if it was illegal). I would rather look for a legal way to buy it first. If I did decide to buy it illegally, it would be to change the system in this country, that makes the common man so powerless. Or I could move to America? |

Erm - not sure exactly what you mean? No, I haven't asked my vet today about Baytril (it is Sunday!) or very recently. Was that what you meant or did I miss the point ?
It was first prescribed to me for my chooks about a year ago. And a few times since - about 6 months ago... |

| I have been reading the web site for Baytril. It is a German based company for animals and an American based company for humans, which includes diabetis drugs. |

OK, thanks for any help offered. I'm doing what I can for my chook, and I can assure you I'm being kind. I can't get hold of any baytril, so any remedies I'm using are natural ones. They seem to have worked alittle bit just recently, so i'll stick at it. I'm doing what I think's best, and I'm learning. (Hence the foot getting slightly better.) So please stop calling me a criminal! |

After all that, we had to cull the hen. She seemed to have been getting better over the last few days, the swelling on her foot was going down quite nicely. However, yesterday her condition was a lot worse. Her eyes were still closed, and she was completely limp and listless. She wouldn't eat or drink anything either - what ever we put in her mouth, she wouldn't swallow it. So we decided that it was time to call it a day. I've never been a quitter, but the poor thing had had all she could take, and it was the kindest thing. Thanks for all the support, we tried our best....
