Cream Legbars also called Crested Cream Legbars are now recognised as a breed. Their history involves crosses between Brown Leghorn, Barred Rock and Auaucana. As far as i know they were developed in the 20's and 30's as an autosexing breed. This means that sexing is possible at a day old, with cockerels and females being different colours. They are becoming very popular with hobby keepers due to their pale blue eggs.
I have one and she is one of my favourites. I find her to be a good layer and very chatty, if just a little flighty. |

if you check some of the pictures in the breeds section here you'll see what i mean. Alasia's Cas is a fantastic example. |

If Morag was crested it could indicate some araucana in her. Do you know what colour eggs she lays?
In fact she may be another of the OCL types there are some very similar here on the Legbars of Broadway website |

Well - she is crested I think!!!!
Here's a close up pic.
Funnily enough - her previous owner said that she was supposed to have hatched from an Araucana egg but felt it must have been a mistake as she lays a fleshy/pink egg.
Maybe she is an Araucana cross as well then. And looking at her face in the pic - it is very similar in shape and look to Linden. (Not the most beautiful girls in terms of facial looks!!!)
MORAG
LINDEN
Thanks for the link = will go take a persuse later. |

| I was given 2 day olds which have grown up as a pullet and cockeral that look like Molly - I was told that they may be "bluebelles" - but they're obviously not - so I'm now wondering if I'll get some darker brown eggs when the pullet comes into lay - my son named her scruffy - because she was as a chick - but she's beautiful now and so is "Slerms McKenzie" the male - but he's destined for the pot ..... |

Great names!
Well Molly is supposed to be a Maran - but she lays a speckled egg rather than a dark mahogony one.
Good luck with your egg colour!! |

And they were all cotswold legbars???? What a smashing range of colours. I think I'm leaning towards them again instead of the cream legbars.
Ooh decisions decisions!!! |
