|
|
Before you start to worry... it's not my girls I am looking to re-home!
My ex-sister-in-law needs to reclaim some of her garden to build a climbing frame for her son and unfortunately she has decided that the chickens need to be re-homed.
There are three in total, all healthy laying hens of about 2 1/2 years old. She has a speckledy, a black rock and a RIR. The black rock in particular is a very friendly bird and dashes to the gate for fuss and cuddles whenever anyone goes to the pen.
If anyone is interested, the hens are ready to be re-homed as soon as someone is willing to take them. My ex-sister-in-law can to hold on to the girls for a bit if needed.
I would take the girls myself but at the moment I simply don't have the room. I think I am going to have her coop and run to enlarge the area I have for my girls in the spring.
Would anyone be able to help?
Thank you.

| Too far away here too, but can you let people know where she is so they know how far they have to travel? |

Good point, thanks Jaydee!
She is in Hertfordshire, about 15 minutes drive from Hemel Hempstead. |

I am about an hour away and would be happy to help.
Do you think she would perhaps meet me half way or something? |

Madslg - Possibly. She had a baby at Christmas (on Christmas day actually!) and so things are a little hectic right now as she has 3 kids.
I will ask and let you know
Thank you for your offer of help.
Are you thinking of taking all three?

It would be cruel to try and split them up!
Yes - i would love to take them all. I was looking to expand my current flock of four as the demand for eggs from friends and colleagues currently outstrips my ability to supply!

Aw, aren't you nice! I'll give her a call and see if she can travel to meet you somewhere, even if it's not half way.
Can you let me know where you'd ideally like to meet so I can let her know, maybe I could met you if she can't? |

It would be ideal for me if i did not have to travel too far from the M25 as most of my journey would be on there. Is there a services just of J20 maybe?
Ooh - how does that sound - dodgy chicken exchange in the carpark...

What a happy thread! Congrats for the new baby - and congrats to madslg for offering a new home!
There's nothing wrong in service stations! That's where I got my 11 adoptees from! (Mine was at Leicester Forest Northbound - sigh! such happy memories!!) |

Oooh, hello!
Madslg, I am so very sorry for not being in touch. I've not had access to a computer for a while and when I did the forums were down
I'm trying to arrange things with the person who has the chickens but it is tricky with her new baby and my work hours.
I know I've been rubbish and I notice that you are now getting 3 ex-battery girls which is wonderful
It won't be a problem at all if you can't take the girls at all
If you can let me know where you stand on this, I'll get in touch with my friend and work out the best thing to do.

Hi LL!
Glad to see you back - i know how tricky things get.
I do still have room for the girls as i now have two houses for the girls (oops - not sure how that happened!)
The only thing i would like to do is give the ex bats some time to settle in first but I guess from your post that that won't be a problem?!
And no - you haven't been rubbish - just busy!
